About SaLMA

WHO WE ARE
Sacramento Latino Medical Association (SaLMA) was established as a 501c3 non-profit corporation in 2007. Our mission is to represent and unite Sacramento Valley area Latino physicians and Sacramento Valley area physicians who treat Latino patients in order to advocate for the delivery of high-quality and culturally appropriate healthcare to the Latino community in the Sacramento region of California.

In accomplishing this mission, SaLMA members work with partners in the community, academia and health care institutions to build a strong, supportive network that will work to create a culturally competent and caring generation of new physicians.

SaLMA’s advocacy efforts will be directed to expand access to quality health care services; increase enrollment and retention of Latinos in higher education and health care professions; support Latino faculty development; ensure cultural competence in health care; and promote research of critical Latino health issues.
